The Leprechaun returns… in ‘Leprechaun Returns’

by Phil Wheat

OK, so the WWE Studios reboot of the Leprechaun franchise might not have set the world on fire but it DID bring the character back from the brink of DTV obscurity; and it’s lead to this:

A sequel, from the director of Manborg and The Void and the one of the writers of Ash vs Evil Dead!

Leprechaun Returns, directed by Steven Kostanski (The Void) and written by Suzanne Keilly (Ash vs Evil Dead), premieres on Syfy in March 2019 and stars Taylor Spreitler, Pep Sonuga, Sai Bennett, Emily Reid, Oliver Llewellyn-Jenkins and Ben McGregor. Meanwhile Warwick Davis is not back as the titular character, with Linden Porco (Cult of Chucky) takes over the role, actor Mark Holton (Teen Wolf) WILL reprise his role as Ozzie from the 1993 original.

The film picks up 25 years after the events of the 1993 original, which found a maniacal Leprechaun doing whatever it takes (including committing gruesome murder) to track down his stolen pot of gold. Leprechaun Returns finds the leprechaun revived in the modern day when a group of sorority girls unwittingly awaken him while tearing down a cabin to build a new sorority house.
