by Phil Wheat

September 19th sees the release of Roman Dirge’s The Bloody Best of Lenore – a selection of Lenore’s funniest and most manically silly adventures collected together for the first time in a special hardcover edition! Celebrating 25 glorious years of Lenore: The Cute Little Dead Girl, this fantastic collection comes with a brand-new cover by creator Roman Dirge, and includes a stunning embossed 4-D cover!

Eisner-winning Roman Dirge created the black comedy comic character Lenore in 1992 for the San Diego alternative magazine Xenophobe, and the character of Lenore has since become a publishing phenomenon with comic books and graphic novels, and even animation, with Sony creating 26 flash-animated shorts of Lenore for their website, ScreenBlast. Inspired by the poem “Lenore” by Edgar Allan Poe, Dirge’s Lenore comics books has garnered a passionate fanbase over the years as well as celebrity fans including Neil Gaiman (American Gods) and Rosario Dawson (Sin City).

The Bloody Best of Lenore – released in the UK by Titan Comics – collects fan-favourite stories by creator Roman Dirge, including stories like; Ragamuffin – the first appearance of Ragamuffin, the vampiric monster trapped in the body of a cute lil’ doll!; The Fugly Ducking – in Lenore’s twist on the classic tale, Lenore encounters a duckling who dreams about being a swan; The Macabre Mortimer Fledge – the shocking secret of Lenore’s rebirth is revealed in ‘The Macabre Malevolence Of Mortimer Fledge’!

This collection also comes with a special bonus material section “Lenore & Friends” which features never before seen art material, and also includes an afterword written by Roman Dirge.
