Two new additions to Team Liquid

by James Smith

If you are a vivid esports fan, you will be very excited to find out that the legendary Attack Damage Carry Yiliang Doublelift Peng has decided to come back into competitive play and join Team Liquid in the middle of the spring split.

The team is making some serious changes in the last couple of weeks in a desperate attempt to climb up the ladder. Last week they announced that their longtime AD Carry Chae Piglet Gwang-jin would be moving to the mid lane and their struggling mid-laner Jung “Youngbin” Young-bin will be an ADC until they can find a replacement. Youngbin used to play mid in the Liquid Academy back in 2015.

Steve Liquid112 Arhancet, the team’s owner, announced this a few days ago on Facebook. The club’s boss stated that during the last week of LCS the team saw that Youngbin could not deliver the results they need to help them perform well during this split so that they will make an additional change. If you are a punter, you should keep this in mind if you intend to wager on or against TL in the near future. We advise you to check the NA LCS stats. If you are a punter, you are most likely a vivid e-sports fan as well, so you probably remember that Doublelift left Team SoloMid in November 2016 after the World Championship, because he wanted to focus on streaming. Well, do not be disappointed that the is not to the team where he belongs since TSM released a statement a few days ago that it does not matter that Doublelift has decided to play with TL for the remainder of the spring split. Moreover, the club added that this will not change the veteran ADC’s intention of coming back to the club and that he will be trying out for his old position in the summer split.

If you are a WildTurtle fan, do not be worried as this move will not impact his position on the team according to TSM. The club stated that if everything goes okay and Doublelift manages to pass the team’s tryout for the summer split, their plan is to have a six-man roster for both the summer split and the World Championship.

Doublelift had previously shown both a desire to focus on his life outside of competitive gaming and burnout when he left the roster. However, in his statement from Team SoloMid, the star ADC said that he realised that professional gaming is his calling. Doublelift added that his time on Team Liquid would help him ease back into the professional environment and most importantly prepare for the tryouts for TSM.

Team Liquid will be facing some serious problems on the battle for the top of the ladder, as they are currently at the bottom part of the standings along with Team EnVyUs. Their next match will be against Team Dignitas on Saturday. We are very excited to see him play against a Carry such as Benjamin LOD deMunck.

Another addition to the team is Adrian Adrian Ma who will be the team’s new support. Adrian played for Phoenix1 during the first part of the split and now moved to TL until the end of the season. As we stated earlier the team is dead last in the NA LCS table, which pushed them towards making such roster moves to try to qualify for the playoffs at the end of the split.

In a press release, Steve Archancet stated that with these two additions Adrian and Doublelift they will be able to bounce back to their former self. He added that this had been quite the turbulent split for the squad, but they hope that their fans know that they are doing everything in their power to improve. P1 already confirmed that the substitute support for Team Dignitas William Stunt Chen would be replacing Adrian on the team’s main roster. TL will continue to use Matthew Matt Elento for this week 8 of the Spring Split, while Adrian will offer to be a substitute option for Liquid’s coaches.

In a press release, Adrian stated that he is very excited to join TL. Even though the team’s performance is below everyone’s expectations during this split, the support sees massive potential in the roster and hopes to help the squad get better results. He hopes that he and Matt will push each other and improve to give Team Liquid an opportunity of winning. Adrian has the 3rd highest KDA every support player in the North America 2017 LCS Spring Split at 3.8. However, Matt has the lowest KDA the league at 2.3 alongside Stunt who has played only three games for Team Dignitas.
