Moontrap sequel ‘Moontrap Target Earth’ gets a release date & clips!
It’s been over two years since we last reported on the film but today the creators of Moontrap – the Bruce Campbell starring cult sci-fi feature – have announced that Moontrap Target Earth, the long-awaited sequel, will be released in the US on February 7th 2017.
Moontrap Target Earth comes from Robert Dyke and Tex Ragsdale, the director and writer of the original film and stars indie film favorite Sarah Butler (I Spit on Your Grave remake), stars with Damon Dayoub (Stitchers) and Charles Shaughnessy (The Nanny).
Moontrap Target Earth continues to explore the concept of an ancient Earth civilization that mastered space travel and colonized the Moon. “We always believed that there were more stories that could be told in the ‘Moontrap Universe’ we created,” said writer Tex Ragsdale. Director Robert Dyke added, “It just took us a lot longer than we anticipated to agree on one.”
What they decided to depict in Moontrap Target Earth was a conflict arising between modern humanity and artificial intelligences created by an ancient culture…. Butler portrays a young woman who discovers the origin of a long-buried spacecraft, a ship that takes her to the Moon, where she must confront those still-active remnants of Earth’s lost civilization.
Moontrap Target Earth will be released in the U.S. by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on February 7th. Check out clips and the trailer/highlight reel for the film below:
