Shudder announce exclusives & new arrivals for February
Offering new premieres and exclusives every month, Shudder has a unique library of hard-to-find international and independent films, something for both casual and hardcore fans of horror. With that in mind, here’s the rundown of the new arrivals and UK exclusives and premieres for February 2017…
Exclusives:
WE GO ON (Dirs. Andy Mitton & Jesse Holland)
Exclusively on SHUDDER from 23rd February
From Andy Mitton & Jesse Holland, directors of the award-winning YellowBrickRoad, comes a fresh, smart and ghoulish take on the ghost story. Paralyzed by his fear of dying, Miles Grissom (Clark Freeman) offers reward money to the first person who can show him a supernatural being – anything to prove to him that we go on after our deaths. He narrows the responses down to three viable candidates – a scientist, a medium, and a worldly entrepreneur. And along with his protective mother, he embarks on an adventure through Los Angeles that quickly spirals into an unthinkable nightmare. Rooted in character and high on atmosphere, WE GO ON also stars John Glover (Gremlins 2, Smallville) and Annette O’Toole (Superman 3, Smallville) in prominent supporting roles.
BLIND SUN (Dir. Joyce A. Nashawati)
Exclusively on SHUDDER from 9th February
Following an impressive festival run, Shudder brings horror fans the strikingly intense and atmospheric debut feature from screenwriter and director Joyce A. Nashawati. During a scorching Greek summer, a stranded foreigner finds himself in a bureaucratic purgatory as he tries to retrieve his residence permit, while the crushing heat threatens to send him over the edge into paranoia and madness. BLIND SUN is a uniquely eccentric take on the apocalyptic horror, quietly catastrophic with sun-bleached visuals that recall films like WHO CAN KILL A CHILD and other classic European Horror.
New to Shudder this month:
TROLL HUNTER – Shot in a docu style, TROLL HUNTER follows a group of Norwegian film students that set out to capture real-life trolls on camera after learning their existence has been covered up for years by a government conspiracy. Thrilling, wildly entertaining and with darkly funny adherence to original Norwegian folklore.
MEXICO BARBARO – Eight Mexican film directors unite to bring tales of the most terrifying Mexican traditions and legends to life. Stories of boogeymen, trolls, ghosts, monsters, Aztec sacrifices and the Day of the Dead come together to create an anthology that is as original as it is horrifying.
THE INTERIOR – Minimalist thriller meets backwoods horror as a listless young man leaves the tedium of Toronto city life for a nightmarish journey into the British Columbian wilderness in director Trevor Juras’ enigmatic, off-kilter debut.
EVIL IN THE TIME OF HEROES – With lightning-fast action and guts galore, Evil in the Time of Heroes sees Billy Zane’s cloaked hero travel from Ancient to Modern Day Greece to take down horde upon horde of bloody-thirsty zombies. Slick, sick and fun!
