Chucky’s Back! And this time he’s bringing his cult!
I’m a huge fan of the Child’s Play franchise, I have been since I was a teenager, before everyone jumped on the bandwagon back in the early 90s when Child’s Play 3 was decried as a new “video nasty” here in the UK. Since then we’ve had two more comedic entries, Bride… and Seed…, and then 2013’s Curse of Chucky which saw Brad Dourif’s daughter Fiona take the lead in a film that brought the terror back to the Good Guy doll.
Now, thanks to EW, we have info on the latest film in the series, a teaser featuring clips from the series, and a title: Cult of Chucky. A film that not only sees Fiona Dourif returning as Nica, the heroine of the previous film; but also Alex Vincent, as Andy Barclay – Chucky’s original nemesis who popped up [spoilers] at the end of Curse of Chucky. But that’s not all! Cult of Chucky also sees Jennifer Tilly come back to the franchise as Chucky’s “bride” Tiffany.
From EW.com:
Cult of Chucky will catch up with the younger Dourif’s character at an asylum for the criminally insane where she has been confined for the past four years and is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when Nica’s psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.
