‘Teen Witch’ comes to Blu-ray?!
We don’t normally do Blu-ray release announcements here on Nerdly, but when one of my favourite 80s teen movies (I mean that sincerely, despite how much the film is derided) is set for feature-packed release, I can’t help but shout it from the rooftops!
What film could possibly get me this excited you might ask? Well probably not if you’ve read the title of this post… I digress… but yes, Teen Witch – that pantheon of 80s chic and the butt of numerous “bad movie” jokes – is set for a Blu-ray release in the US next year from Kino Lorber/Scorpion Releasing. Just check out that cover art:
From the press release:
Romance is the most powerful spell of all…or so one teenager learns in this fun teen fantasy starring Robyn Lively (Chicago Hope), Zelda Rubinstein (the Poltergeist trilogy), Dan Gauthier (Beverly Hills, 90210) and Dick Sargent (Bewitched). Filled with sweet-natured comedy and supernatural appeal, Teen Witch will work its magic on you!
Louise (Lively) is a shy misfit with a huge crush on — and no chance of dating – Brad (Gauthier), the hunky star of the high school football team. And when Louise discovers on her 16th birthday that she’s descended from Salem witches, she uses her newfound powers to become the most popular girl on campus! But when sparks fly between her and Brad, how can she be sure it’s true love-and that he’s not simply spellbound?
Special Features:
- Audio commentary with stars Robyn Lively, Joshua Miller, Dan Gauthier and Mandy Ingber
- On camera interviews with stars Lively, Gauthier, Ingber, and Lisa Fuller.
- On camera interview with the Weir Brothers.
- Original Trailer
So not only are we getting a Blu-ray of Teen Witch but Kino/Scorpion have managed to secure both a commentary AND on-screen interviews with its stars! I honestly never thought this day would come.
Time to retire that old MGM DVD methinks…
