Richard Stanley’s ‘Hardware’ to get 25th Anniversary Blu-ray
Cult film Hardware is being released in a 25th Anniversary Limited Edition (on DVD and Blu-ray), featuring art cards created by 2000AD’s Clint Langley, on 23rd February 2015. Starring Dylan McDermott, Stacey Travis, John Lynch, Iggy Pop and Lemmy; and directed by Richard Stanley, the film is inspired by the 2000AD story SHOK! by Steve MacManus and Kevin O’Neill.
Radiation clouds choke the sky and over-crowded mega-cities threaten to dissolve into madness. A wandering junk merchant finds the remains of a defunct robot and sells them to Mo, also a nomad, who buys them for his urban artist girlfriend named Jill to use in her work. But he doesn’t know the robot is a self-regenerating prototype, a military drone intended to control the exploding population utilizing indiscriminate, gruesome murder. Trapped, alone in her apartment and spied on by her perverted neighbor, Jill must battle to survive against a relentless killing machine re-built from her own possessions and which will stop at nothing to tear her apart.
Clint Langley began his career at 2000 AD on Dinosty with Pat Mills, and went on to work on some of the comics flagship titles, like Judge Dredd, Sinister Dexter and even Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Hardware: 25th Anniversary Edition will be released on DVD and Blu-ray by Brightspark Productions, one of the leading independent film distributors in the UK – who already have a slate of a further 20 cult films set to bow here in the UK in 2015.
