For five seasons, Walter White and Jesse Pinkman were undisputedly the greatest cooks in North America. From their humble origins as part-timers in a cramped (and decidedly unreliable) RV to the halcyon days in a state-of-the-art ‘kitchen’, the duo prospered, with competitors falling (sometimes explosively) by the wayside. Customers paid top dollar for their product. Connoisseurs came from all over the continent, and even as far afield as Europe, to sample their distinctive blue ice. The partners may have had their detractors but, without a doubt, they were the best of the best.

It’s not often that TV shows, especially hard-hitting crime dramas from US cable television, spawn cook books but when that’s what the show is about – cooking, albeit meth not food – it’s not that far of a creative leap. Especially when said cookbook is written so well and in such a way as to not only provide great recipes but also reminisce about, and provide details on, the now-defunct series.

The Breaking Bad Cookbook contains recipes for tons of different foodstuffs and everything – from the Whites’ celebrated cooked breakfast, to ASAC Hank Schrader’s delicious barbecue, to Walter’s mouth-watering Heisenburger, and Gus Fring’s delectable Los Pollos Hermanos fried chicken – is broken down to its most basic elements, with step-by-step instructions, lists of ingredients and handy tips gleaned from the series.

Author Chris Mitchell obviously has a great love for Breaking Bad and it shows in his prose but it also turns out Mitchell is a bit of a foodie too (there’s some really good stuff to be made inside these pages, honestly). Who knew the two could ever come together in such a way? And even if you’re not the biggest Breaking Bad fan, Mitchell’s book is still well-worth picking up just for the recipes, especially given that it can be picked for a little as £5 in the major supermarkets right now!

The Breaking Bad Cookbook is the ultimate stocking filler for Breaking Bad fans this Christmas… It’s out now from all good book stockists (and even some bad ones). Why not take a leaf out of Walter White’s book and distribute this tome to all your friends, and even your enemies. They’ll thank you for it!
