Interview: Daniel Radcliffe talks ‘What If’

by Phil Wheat

Wallace (Daniel Radcliffe) and Chantry (Zoe Kazan) meet at a party while reading refrigerator magnet poetry and find that they have great chemistry….as friends. They form a relationship in which they talk about everything from movies to illnesses to disappointing Christmas presents. It’s heavy interest at first sight but there is a problem – Chantry has a serious boyfriend. Should friendship be squashed due to budding romantic influences or can they control their desire to simply enjoy the benefits of a platonic relationship.  Told through their many meetings over the course of a year and interwoven with both Wallace and Chantry’s hyperactive imagination,  What If hilariously demonstrates the complications of timing. All of their insecurities, regrets and victories are exposed.

With the film due for release this coming Wednesday, film correspondent James Kleinmann sat with with Daniel Radcliffe to talk all things What If and especially how much he could relate to his character’s pedantic nature…

Check out our review of What If right here. The film is released across the UK on August 20th.
